چکیده

We propose a novel framework for computing the medial axis transform of 3D shapes while preserving their features via restricted power diagram (RPD). Medial features, including external such as sharp edges and corners input mesh surface internal seams junctions axis, are important shape descriptors both topologically geometrically. However, existing approximation methods fail to capture preserve them due fundamentally under-sampling in vicinity difficulty build correct connections. In this paper we use RPD spheres its affiliated structures help solve these challenges. The dual structure provides connectivity spheres. surfacic cell (RPC) each sphere tangential regions that have contact with. connected components (CC) RPC give us classification sphere, be on sheet, seam, or junction. They allow detect insufficient sampling around develop necessary conditions them. Using RPD-based framework, able construct high quality meshes with preserved. Compared sampling-based voxel-based methods, our method is first one can not only but also axes.

Groupwise Medial Axis Transform

Medial Axis Transform (MAT) is one of the promising tools used for the shape recognition and it poses the advantages like space and complexity reduction, ease of processing for shape recognition. MAT representation of shapes uses object centred co-ordinate system that represents bending, elongation and thickness. But MAT of the objects is very much sensitive to small perturbations of its bounda...

Two-dimensional offsets and medial axis transform

We present a mathematical theory of the two-dimensional offset curves from the viewpoint of medial axis transform. We explore the local geometry of the offset curve in relation with the medial axis transform, culminating in the classification of points on the offset curve. We then study the domain decomposition from the viewpoint of offsets, and in particular introduce the concept of monotonic ...

Distance Solutions for Medial Axis Transform

A method towards robust and efficient medial axis transform (MAT) of arbitrary domains using distance solutions is presented. The distance field, d, is calculated by solving the hyperbolic-natured Eikonal (or Level Set) equation. The solution is obtained on Cartesian grids. Both the fast-marching method and fast-sweeping method are used to calculate d. Medial axis point clouds are then extracte...
